Cruise INOP after raining

Wondering if anyone else has had this issue. My cruise control will not set/accel/etc after it rains. The main button is lit...but when I hit set, the green "cruise control" light doesn't light up and (of coarse) the cruise doesn't set.

It happened last rain storm, and a few days later it started working (once whatever got wet dried out I assume).

I know it's obviously something is getting wet. Just wanted to know if anyone else had it happen so I can narrow down where to start looking.

under NO circumstances are you to use CC when the road is wet!!! it will cause you to lose control of the vehicle! lucky for you there seems to be a safety feature to prevent people from using it who dont know better. if you absolutely need CC, dont use it when its wet. if youre like 90% of the rest of us here, just rip that crap out, weight savings and shaved engine space ftw.

Thank you for your concern. I'm aware of the issues with driving in rain

Point is...it doesn't work for a few days after. And this is a new issue, just started happening within the past month....so it's not a safety feature.

I know someone who used cruise control in the rain.

A few flips later, woke up upside down in a ditch.

Yeah, well like I said...It's not a fact of using it while it's raining...it's that it doesn't work for days after.

I noticed it after Irene came thru town. So something is getting wet and shorting out.

ah, well... your little electronic cc box thing is below the dash under steering wheel, above the gas and clutch pedals you gotta hardcore hang upside down to get to it but i doubt its that, or anything for the switches on your steering wheel itself. only other thing you have is the unit under the hood. look between the passenger strut tower and throttle body to see your cruise control unit. swap it out or rip it out. if theres a bad connection or something condensation or whatnot can make it crap out, i had that experience with a speed sensor during rainy weather before, acted up when it was wet out until finally it just completely fails
