My cruise control stopped working today! I checked the fuse in the fuse box inside the car and checked every fuse in the fuse box under the bonnet. Has anyone else ever had cruise control fail. Is there a simple check I can carry out?
Couple of quick questions; does the light illuminate on the dash switch if so, when you hit the SET button on the steering wheel does the instument light come on in the dash. If they both work, check your vacume and electrical connections to the control unit under the hood.

it means your going too fast on cruise control try going 120 ha ha ha but sorry man i wouldnt know whats wrong with your cruise crontol try looking at the harness it could be the connection but if you cant find a result just take it to a dealer to see wussup with it
I had this problem on my 2001 Lude. There is a switch behind or in front (I forget how exactly it is mounted underneath the dash) of your break pedal that has probably failed. The switch tells the computer to disable cruise control when you push on the break pedal. The dealer told me that this is common, and I am almost positive that this is causing your cruise control not to work. Check it out. Hope this helps!
If I get a chance, I will take a picture of it this afternoon.

I have the same prob after converting to 5 spd. I'm just gonna remove the cruise control and use it as a nos activation switch. Does anyone know how to remove the cruise control. Please email me. Thanks

basically all you need to do is just take off that whole plate and pull out the switch and the harness that goes with it then everything after that is peice of cake
Check the bulbs in the switch before you do anything else if the bulb is burnt out cruse will not work; they are hard to test with an ohm metter so i would try switching them. Its only a $2.75 part. Hope this helps

There really isnt a whole lot to it. Just unplug the harness that plugs into the cruise control actuator (right next to the under hood fuse box), disconnect the cable that passes though the firewall and connects to the linkage over the accelerator, and disconnect the vacuum hose that connects to the intake manifold. Make sure you put a vacuum cap over the nipple where the vacuum hose was connected. You can then remove the cable from the firewall, pull it though, then remove the actuator, actuator brackets, and vacuum tank. You can also remove the cruise control unit thats under the dash, since its not doing anything without the actuator in place. I removed mine since I never use cruise control, and it gives you just that much more space under the hood.

yeah whatever he said...how long did it take you to take off
About 25 minutes. It would have been faster if I took my Spoon strut bar off first, it makes it harder to take the actuator off. Without the bar in place, I could have taken the actuator and bracket off in one piece. With the bar in, I loosened the bolts where the bracket attaches to the firewall, then realized I couldnt remove it, then took the actuator out of the bracket.
One thing I didnt mention is that taking the cruise control out is going to leave a hole in the firewall where the actuator cable passes through it. You need to find something to plug this with. I used a plastic plug I found in the auto parts. Its in the Help! section. This is the brand that sells all kinds of obscure parts, like vacuum tee's, vacuum plugs (which you will need), master cylinder caps, etc.
