crower cam/valve spring/retainers question. - Honda Prelude Forum

FYI there's a groupbuy going on for the h22: cam(any stage) $610 shipped, valve spring/retainer set $370 shipped.
My question is can I put a stage 3 cam with the valve spring/retainer set in my fairly stock setup? It seems the stage 2 is the more popular one. Makes me think if there's an issue of using the stage 3. Anyone know of any problems with this? I'm thinking of going two routes. Either a JR supercharger or this crower setup... depending on how much I can save up and how fast I will be able to do it. It's cheaper to go the crower route, but not nearly as much gain as a JRSC but realistically, if I had $3000 and then some for install I'd probably find something better to use my money on.

damn i wish i knew about this about a month ago. i just paid about 1600 for cams, adj. camgears, retainers, and springs. crower ofcourse. do you know if after i get it all installed, will it be safe to use a jrsc with stage two cams?

it's not recommended but doable. crower doesn't recommend stage 1 cams with the JRSC and JRSC claims that it works best with the stock cam.
