Bouckaroo, that's actually the same thing my machine shop said. Do a swap, keep the car running and slowly rebuild the original engine as the money comes in. That sounds like a good option, but for some reason I'm reluctant to do it. I think its because I have another vehicle, so I'm not dependent on the lude to get me around. Also I don't really trust buying something of the internet I know very little about.
And to answer your question, I'm probably looking at around a 3k budget.
I'm probably going for a lighter flywheel, new crank, waiting on machine shop b4 I decide on piston and rod, valve job, mild cam w/ cam gears, and possible raising CR, but again waiting from word from shop.
Still doing research on bolt-ons.

In both of those cases, no. Engine swaps do not require that a new title, either salvage or rebuild, needs to be issued. As least here in Indiana, salvage titles are only for when:

The only time a rebuilt title is issued in Indiana is when a car, previously with a salvage title, has been repaired and inspected. So, long story short, just because you do an engine swap does not require you to get a rebuilt title. That may be different in Canada-land or in other states, but you shouldn't just assume that you will need a new title.

Not to mention a lot of people don't take the time to jack up the car and look at the VIN on the motor when they buy it, anyways.
