Whats the part number for the front windshield? I just found out theres a foot long crack on my windshield today. Dealer price will be too expensive so I don't even want to know. Any suggestions of what I should do? Get an used one? from junkyard? I need the part number so i can find out how much at hparts.com. Thankyou guys...
Don't get one from the dealer or HP.com, go to an autoglass dealer and have it repaced. The will be able to work with your insurance or you can just pay them. If you can find one at the junk yard then get one and have it professionally replaced, you really don't want to replace it yourself.
just call a local auto-glass place. I had this done last week. they came to my work and put it in free of charge in the parking lot. i didn't even have to call my insurance, they took care of everything. Piece of cake!!
I wouldn't get an OEM one if you are paying with your dime, they are a lot more expenseive than an aftermarket one. I got my windshield replaced for $180 from a local glass shop.
i just got a new windshield put in my 4th gen for 145. A friend of a friend did it. Most the time windshields run around 200 here in KS. Good luck man.

I'd also go with a windshield from an auto glass shop. It'll be considerably cheaper. Personally I'd do it just to get rid of the light factory tint on the 5th gen which is green in color.
I got mine replaced through an auto glass shop and my insurance took care of everything. The list price of the windshield was $648!!!!! But the shop charged me $0 for the install/parts. I couldn't believe it. The dude at the auto glass shop was totally cool. He told me to change my deductible from $500 to $100 and he would install my windshield for free. I did and he was true to his word. After he installed my windshield, I waited a month and changed my deductible to $1,000! =) Good luck.
