i have a 98 prelude auto... i have a cracked egr and a knocking stated to come from the top of the motor i figure it could be a bent valve or rod knock i was wondering if the cracked egr could cause this

A ticking or tapping sound can come from the top end, but a knocking sound is typically from the bottom end.

First of all, as indy stated, you are completely wrong with whatever you are assuming. An EGR system itself couldn't cause a continuous knocking, it probably couldn't cause any sort of severe knocking whatsoever.

Secondly, if you motor knocks, it needs to be rebuilt. It's over.
