Couple Quick stupid questions...

So I'm not a Prelude owner nor do I plan to be however, I know this guy who won't quit running his trap about his 98 Lude and I figured I'd come to the more knowledgable people about this. Mind you, I'm not stupid when it comes to cars. I own a 67 Mustang Coupe, a 95 Mustang GT, and I daily a 05 SRT4. But having someone back me up is always good.

Alright so I know this guy that texts a couple of my friends, who are girls, alot and is always braggin about his Prelude and how fast and awesome and great it is. I'm guessing he thinks they're retards and will somehow be impressed by his stupid claims. Thats all well and good and all but he keeps saying the stupidest things and its somewhat annoying because we all know he's lying and doesn't know crap about cars. So today I decided to call him out on his ridiculous claims. This kid claims his stock Prelude (he says it has a $1200 exhaust, but thats it) can spin the tires when shifting into fifth at 125mph. Sound good to you guys? How about it tops out at 170mph? I looked around and from what I see, Ludes top out at around 140mph. Of course I told him that, but all I get is "naw it totally goes 170".

So lude owners, what say you? Is he telling the truth and I'm just too stupid to understand or is he a moron?

4th gear redlines at 120mph. He'd hit fuel cutoff before he reached 125mph. And no, the tires won't break traction when he shifts (unless they're bald or something). Top speed in 5th gear has been tested around 147-148mph. Of course there are tons of variables, but it simply won't break 155mph stock, not even downhill with a tailwind.

Complete B.S. In stock form, the best a prelude is going to do is chirp the tires in 2nd.

B.S. again. Top speed is about 150 going downhill with a tailwind.

What I'm guessing is the clutch is slipping on the 4th-5th shift and he doesn't know any better or something. It could be 120, not 125, who is looking at there speedo at that speed anyways?

But whatever the case, I figured itd be best to ask guys who know about them. He's supposed to be sending a video of the spinning tires tomorrow. Haha, I'll post it if he does.

I'm totally sending him a link to this later on tomorrow.

Will do... if he even does it. We also told him we want GPS-verified proof of the 170mph. We'll see what happens tomorrow.

We're sending him the link ASAP so he'll probably get mad and never send the video. But whatever.

Hey Garrett- your lude doesn't go 170mph and doesn't spin the tires at 125mph. Hate to say it, but told you so.

Yours truly,
Sam

I do believe he's 17 or 18? Not really sure. He's a senior in high school though.

I personally live outside Pulaski TN and I'm a freshmen at UTM so I'm either here or there.

18 oh my that's your problem right there. I love your mustang btw we don't see those over here too often. Maybe he thinks 170km's or something because it will reach that easy lol but not 170mph you got to be joking. I actually recommend he not go out and speed he is probably going to kill himself.

Hey man, I'm 18. I'm just not a retarded 18 year old.

No video today, he pulled the motor. To swap in a H22.

Thanks for the compliment on my Mustang. The 95 is my baby. I've sunk way too much money into that car and its still pretty slow. 4.10s, full exhaust, and a King Cobra clutch are the only performance mods but she's pretty. Custom peal/metalflake paint, 01 Cobra seats, FR500 steering wheel, Bullit pedals, Cobra front bumper, shave badges, mmm sexy haha.

Nope, not a thing wrong with the old one to my knowledge. I think this other one has cams. Watch out Veyrons, theres a new wild and crazy Lude roaming the streets.
