Cost of a H22a?

Does anyone know how much a 2001+ H22a would cost? My engine got messed up kinda bad and depending on how much money in repairs I get screwd for I might just end up buying a new engine. So if anyone knows please respond.

Is this a base model or SH. There is a difference, the block on the base model is different than the SH. Looking at Majestic Honda's Online Parts Catalog, a block (Looks like it includes everything, except the external accessories like power steering, alternator, etc.) for a 2001 base model Prelude has a list price of 3061.71. Majestic will sell it to you for 2296.27 though. Thats just for the short block. The head lists for 1813.52, but sells at 1360.11 from Majestic. So a completely assembled engine probably costs between $3500 and $4800. Are you sure the engine is a total loss? Maybe you could save the head and just buy the bottom end. Or even repair the engine, which would almost certainly cost a lot less. Either way, good luck, I know how hard it is to not be able to drive your Prelude.

Thanks a lot. Yeah im suffering right now without my car. I have to drive my brothers slow Auto Altima. IT sucks this is what it must be like to be hooked on drugs... ANyway thanks for the info. Acutally its the heads that I might be interested in because AFAIK the block is good its just that one of the cylinder heads that got cracked. And from the estimates it looks like it might cost the same to fix the head or to buy a new head. So yeah thanks a lot.

One more question. Do you have problems with your 17x8s rubbing? Did you have to do anything to make them fight right because I was thinking of getting 17x8 Subzeroes after I fix my car.

No, they dont rub at all. They are 17x8 with a +48mm offset. Im using 215/40-17 Kumho 712's. I dont like the tires though, they are kinda soft, I really should have bought Yokohama A520... The real test will come when I lower it. Hopefully I can find the time to do it within the next two weeks.

And what kind of warranty did you have on your car?

Basically I misshifted... no one can give me a concrete answer to exactly what I did, but it was pretty bad. And I had just a basic warranty on the car.

You possibly bent your valves. Does your car start at all? I've misshifted before a couple of times and my car still ran fine. I've shifted from 5th to 2nd by accident and was going around 80mph. on the highway.
