It's impossible, many have tried, but none have succeeded. Save yourself the trouble, and whatever you do, don't search the forums for information on this

Haha, he was being sarcastic but yes please do use the search bar. Anyway it is possible, but what you will mostly find using the search bar is people telling you its a hassle to do so, and its better to sell and buy a 5spd. Then again, you have other people who have already done it.

That was sarcasm?
Seriously though.. I had 2 acura integras that I planned on doing this with.. taking the parts from one and putting in the other. That is the most straight forward way to do it, that way you will be missing no parts, and it costs a hell of alot less.
Of course, to actually do it, I was told I would have to rewire the ECU to accept the manual tranny computer, do some cutting and fabrication so there was a place to mount the clutch(it was stamped where it would have to be cut out..).. to say it is a hassle sounds like an understatement.
A mechanic was willing to do it, he says for $2k.. as long as he could raise the price when it turned out it was harder to do than originally anticipated. I know someone who got it done for just over 3k when he had a car to pull the parts from.. and it NEVER worked the way a stick should work originally.
Unless you have the space and know how to do it yourself along with quite a bit of patience or $2-3k and either a spare car or parts.. avoid this at all costs. No matter how you do it, there is a chance it won't be done perfectly, and you would be better overall just buying one.

-The ecu wiring on a Prelude doesn't need to be redone
-Their is no manual transmission computer
OP. we have FAQ information and stickies on this. Just search "5spd swap". You'll probably find a few of my threads on it.
That makes it quite a bit more straight forward.. but does that make it worth doing?

im in the process of it right now, and the hardest part of it is locating all the parts (if your looking for deals like i am)... if you can find a reputable shop to do the labor, expect to spend around the $1000 range for labor, and give or take that much in parts.
if your looking to do it there are literally hundreds of write-ups and threads on this subject. the FAQ section here, on H-T, and on PP will be your best friend if your seriously looking to do it, also if you search google you will occasionally find some good stuff too
I had nearly $20k in my car tho; which is why I did it, instead of buying a different prelude... If your car is stock, and over 100k miles; your better off picking up a manual prelude off of cars.com; it will save you alot of heartache.
I'm expecting it to be 3k. Sorry to hijack this thread, but how did it feel the first time driving?
lol dude. For me, it was F'ing awesome. Being how it was the same car, I really felt a difference. It was faster, I had more control, and more responsive. Then again, I'm sure that's how it is with all other manuals. It just really amazed me that the same car I owned coulda change like that. The only thing about it was that, when they did it, the clutch pedal was a little too high up. They told me that they tried to get it in as much as possible. But now I've gotten so used it.
