Continued alignment problems

Wanted to share a little info with everyone..

I'm still going thru my alignment challenges with Honda. You may recall 18" Gtps, with 215/35/18 mounted just last weekend.

Car pulled hard right even after Honda alignment. Not radial pull, cause we broke off and remounted each tire. Still pulled.

Here's the confusion - Honda realized they were using base specs opposed to SH specs...there is difference. Once they corrected that it, pulled more ???!!!???

Then the tech disconnected the ATTS sensors, which they do during an alignment, yet instead of connecting, immedeately drove it...are you ready??...it drove straight, no more pull.

Honda hooked it all back up, the pull came back.

Now they're telling me, the SH can't handle the 18's...

Next step - Honda shim rods to adjust the camber...

Hmmm ???!!!??

Hmm...doesn't sound right. If you have a helm, or you can ask to look at the dealers, there is a section that explains how to re-center/re-calibrate the atts so that it reads it at center when the steering wheel is at center. There's a buncha other crap in there too but i don't have the helm with me since i'm at work right now. I'll try to follow up on the exact page #'s if i have time later today or tomorrow...

I'll say it again-I don't think your rims have much to do with this. The proof is in the fact that it drives straight with the ATTS disabled. The only way rims would impact is if the offset and tire sizes do not meet acceptable limits. Another thing-SH Preludes use different rods than Base and there are several versions-these are for Caster adjustment only. If the change in rod is not sufficient to bring Caster into spec by itself-they add up to 2 shims. SH Preludes have a Caster setting of ~+4.2 degrees. But this is actually off-topic as the adjustment you are doing is not directly related.
The ATTS is a system that has its own flow chart for adjustment. Back to the alignment machine and your shop pays again as it is not right-could be a failed sensor or computer too.

i wouldn't know but maybe the rims threw the ATTS off calibration over time? And now it's just misaligned. It'll probably do the same thing now with ATTS and any set of rims. Well... at least you car goes straight at some point or another... my car is just whacked up screwed to the left.

Sorry for the mis quote...JC836 you're right...it's the caster not the camber that the shim rods will help out with.

I swear it feels like toe to me...if the wheel is straight and level and I'm on a flat road(they do exist) the car drifts hard left..

I've got the final numbers from Honda..I'll share..

Left Front - Camber (-0.4) Right Front - Camber (-0.8)
Caster (4.5) Caster (4.4)
Toe (0.02) Toe (0.02)

Total Toe 0.04
Steer Ahead 0.00

Left Rear - Camber (-0.6) Right Rear - Camber (-1.1)
Caster (4.5) Caster (4.4)
Toe (0.03) Toe (0.04)

Total Toe 0.07
Thrust Angle 0.00

Any thoughts??

Man, I'm having user (me being a dumbass) problems presenting the correct format on that alignment sheet...

Please omit the rear caster...there isn't any on the spec sheet from Honda.
