As far as I know, no.

Why are you asking? Is this a matter of laziness, money, or what?

Swapping motors is not a simple affair. It takes time to connect everything properly, and time to test out the motor to make sure everything works correctly. I don't suggest you cut corners, because then you will end up with mysterious problems in the future that are hard to diagnose.

My motor is at a local shop and they really arent sure what they're doing. They put the motor in and everythings fine except it cant run...

Im going tomorrow to swap out the things from my a4 to the jdm.. im stepping on toes at the shop so I was hoping there was an easier way, but I may be able to do it with the motor in the car... i hope.

besides, someone at h-t sent me this

I just finished my H22A swap in my 5th gen and It runs great. I had to swap my USDM intake manifold and my 5th gen oil pump housing. everything else was just plug and play. The issue I have is that my fans don't come on and it's because of the cooling fan switch located at the thermostat housing.

[QUOTE=As for the header/exhaust you dont need to change it when going from a SH to base since the differences are to accomodate the ATTS unit which you'll no longer have. My car is currently running a JDM H22A and the SH header/exhaust, the only fitment issue is the header mounting to the rear of the motor since they mount differently between the SH and the base models.[/QUOTE]

I am not quite following what U mean?? what do U mean by the "Header mounting to the rear of the motor"? I have an SH that i am converting to a non-sh; i have a turbonetics system installed...

Sorry to bump this, but I'm hoping to get some more clarification.

I've come to realize im in the same boat as this guy:

Here's what I've found so far, please correct me.

Im going from OBD2 H22A4 to OBD1 JDM H22A
Ive got the full engine swap (with all accessories attached) and JDM ECU
I purchased a OBD2B to OBD1 conversion harness.

  1. Can the OBD1 ECU use the OBD2 parts? (IM, A/C, P/S, ALT) ?
  2. Do I need to put in the H22A4 CKP sensor W/ THE USDM SPROCKET if I'm using the JDM ECU and distributor ?
  3. Do I need to swap the oil pump housing also? (i havent come across this part on other sites so far)

The place I ordered my engine 'assured' me that for this swap all I would need to do is swap the ECU, use the conversion harness and re-wire the dizzy. Everyone else would be plug and play. The shop it's at now has had it for 2 weeks and is telling me theres more. I'm planning to take the day off tommorow and check this all out myself first hand.

I finally got my swap done.

Swapping in a JDM OBD1/OBDI H22A into a 2001 Base Prelude H22A4 OBD2/OBDII

Here is what was required to be done:

We needed to keep all the accessories so it would wire up without any customizing wiring.

Parts that needed to be swapped to the JDM block from the USDM block (ie OBDII parts)
Distributor
Intake Manifold
A/C
P/S
Alternator
Oilpump housing (which includes the CKP sproket and sensors, etc)
and of course the all the wiring

ughhhead & keith-- how did this swap work out for you. How difficult was it and how much was the end cost. I'm buying a truck for winter and parking the prelude so I can do everything in the winter ( long winters here in anchorage). Don't really care how long it takes me to do this. pretty much just gonna drive the truck and prolly keep the car on the track only. but this thread is EXACTLY what I've been looking for sooooo long.
