Cold starts/ Hesistation

I was wondering if anyone could help me with this. I am THINKING it might be a fuel problem since I have done all the necessary tune up (minus fuel filter) things I needed to do recently.. When its cold out, and I start my car usually on the first start it will start up, run for 1 second, and then "sputter" until finally shutting down on its on. The second time I start it, it runs great..

Also I have been noticing a smell sometimes when I accelerate.

I have NEVER replaced the injectors or fuel pump. I have replaced the fuel filter 3 times in the life of the car.. I have 204k on it now with the JDM motor. Other than that it usually runs strong. Thanks for all your help!

Maybe your battery is starting to age? This is just a guess though, good luck...
