Code 3 Map sensor after VAFC install?

I just installed a used VAFC I, triple checked wiring and soldered everything. Turn key to ON position, initialized the vafc to reset it to factory settings and then set initial settings per instruction manual. As soon as I started the car though it threw a code 3 after 3-5 seconds of running. It barely even drives now. Any ideas? Thanks.

Don't run the car like that. An improperly installed VAFC can destroy an engine. I'm guessing you went with the hack-job method and did not use a PnP wiring harness? If so, your best bet at this point is to take the car to somebody that knows what they are doing before it is too late.

Well it's not really rocket science. You simply splice some wires and solder them together. I have checked continuity of all the wires from the ecu plug to the plug for the VAFC, and from the plug to the map sensor plug in the engine bay. All are connected good. Can something be wrong with the vafc?

It's possible.

Well I un-soldered the vafc and soldered the wires back and the car is fine. Is there any way of testing the vafc? I'm gonna look around for a pnp harness. Any suggestions?

Check ebay for the pnp. Once found, test using the harness.
