I'm having some clutch problems. There are times when my clutch will go stiff when I step down and I can't get into gear. It's happened while I was driving as well as when I start the car and tried to get into first. It's starting to happen more and more often and I'm not sure what it is. FYI, I have 85k miles on a stock clutch and have not had any slipping problems at all.
The pedal goes stiff? That's a new one. How's your fluid level? Is the slave cylinder leaking? Is the master cylinder leaking? (look at where the plunger enters the cabin, if that area looks moist - its leaking)
The stock clutch has a tendency of busting the dampening springs. When they go, it becomes hard or just plain impossible to get into gear.
Damnit, you ****ers beat me to it. Check your fluid level.

Maybe he means stiff like it just presses down, then stays. So again, lack of pressure in the system. Check level, check leaks, fill and bleed, then check back.

maybe stiff is the wrong word. it doesn't have a problem coming back up when i step down...the problem is sometimes ill step on the clutch, and the pedal does nothing....ill be stuck in neutral, unable to get into the next gear. i know it's happening when i step down and it feels heavier and shorter than normal. does that make sense?
edit: i just checked the clutch fluid level and it looks ok.

Shifting difficulties due to clutch pedal resistance
I'm also experiencing the exact same clutch problems. There are times when the clutch pedal will go stiff when I step down and I can't get into gear. It's starting to happen more and more often and I'm not sure what it is. Prelude is a 2001 with 80k miles and a stock clutch. No slipping problems whatsoever.
It's definitely not the fluid! All of the hydraulic components have been replaced (Master cylinder, slave cylinder and dampener. Fluid is clean and new. It feels like something is binding up the movement of the pressure plate but only sometimes. Anyone figure out what this is ?

one of your clutch springs is loose and on the verge of popping off....not sure if that's a piece you can replace or if you'll have to replace the whole clutch, but the shop guy told me i had to replace the entire clutch so that's what i did.
your problem seems identical to what i was exeriencing. it got worse and worse, to the point of where i could no longer shift.
Do you hear any noises coming from the tranny? I believe if it's the clutch springs you may hear a creaky noise. A chirping noise when the clutch is engaged may indicate a bad relase bearing. Could it be a busted fork? The fact that you seem to not be able to push the clutch pedal in all the way makes me think there's something blocking the movement. Like, something is blocking the fork or the release bearing itself. In other words, something mechanical and something internal. If it were a master/slave cylinder thing your pedal should have no problems going in all the way, it just might not come back up automatically.
im actually having the same problems like the other 2 guys are. i cant get it into 1st gear and when i get it into first gear, its hard to put it into second. when i try to downshift into 2nd, its hard and sometimes it feels like its gonna grind the gear but it doesnt and stays in gear. when the car gets warm, it stops and i could shift like normal. any answers id appreciate it. the clutch was just changed last week and the fluid level is fine. filled the tranny with honda fluid and the shifting seemed easier but still there. any possibility that my tranny is going out? i also hear a whining sound with the momentum of the engine. it happens in every gear. responses would be awesome. thanks guys
thats funny you mention the clicking sound cuz while im taking my foot OFF the pedal, I hear a clicking sound. i swapped out the fluid in the tranny w HGF and its fine now. but i still have the clicking sound. you say that the springs are broke but the guy just replaced the clutch. any comments?
How about the master and slave cylinder? I had a fairly new slave cylinder go out on me once. It looked fine, but my fluid level was dropping ever so slightly. I pulled the boot that covers up the little rod back a bit and some fluid leaked out. Your master cylinder might also be leaking. Check the rod that comes out of the firewall and attaches to the pedal. If the end that is closest to the rubber boot looks moist, it is leaking.
yes. i looked under the dash near the pedal and it is leaking. its not a fresh leak either. the dealer wanted close to 7 bills to have it fixed. too bad the guy who did the clutch didnt bother to look there. oh well. he loses out. thanks dude.
