Click Sound When Clutch Is Engaged

I did some searching and didn't find any possible causes or solutions. I will try to explain the best I can. I have a 2001 Type SH bone stock, just when I engage the clutch to take off and when shifting gears I hear a click sound. The click sound is just like the sound you hear from the emergency brake (just one click). With the car in gear prior to taking off I can gently release my foot to engage the clutch several times and hear the clicking sound. Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem or if it is a problem at all. Thanks for any help.

I have a similar sound. Don't know what it is exactly, but I think it's slop in the drivetrain that gets taken up when the clutch is engaged.

It is a click sound, almost identical to one of the clicks you hear when you set your emergency brake. Anyway, my car is under a one year warranty which expires Feb. 2009. I have an appointment with the dealer to get it checked out. I will keep you posted.

I just remembered...my car started doing it just after I got the clutch replaced.

My clutch was also replaced at 105,000 in Feb. this year by the dealer when I bought the car, the clicking noise just started at 112,000 miles. Glad I got the one year warranty just in case it is expensive to repair.

By the way, your quote by gatewayjoe had me laughing my ass off.

I have that nosie too!! My mechanic told me, on the clutch plate, there are some springs, those springs if loss, it will make the noise like that. There is only way to fix that which is change your clutch. Even through my clutch just use less than 13,000 miles, I already got that noise.

Went to my mechanic today took him for a ride to let him hear the click noise, he said it was normal and that there was no problem. Just the normal sound of the gears when the clutch is engaged. Before the ride he checked for a bad tie rod or a possible loose motor mount, all looked good.
