Clearing out tailights

For those that have done this...on the 5th gen stock tails....has anyone removed the orange blinker piece in side. If so how did you get it out?

i've done this...this job is a biaaaaaaaaaaatch! took me 6 hours b/c i wanted to do it right.

there's a couple methods to doing this but here's what i did...i took a DeWalt power drill and drilled little tiny holes into the orange plastic until it looked like swiss cheese. if you do this, make sure you don't wear away the plastic surrounding the hole to which your light goes in or you won't be able to put the bulb holder back into place. secondly take a pair of needle nose plyers and break/pull the little orange plastic pieces out. that's pretty much it. shake all the orange **** out and you're done. good luck.

Thank you soooo much man. I went at one of them with a screw driver and now it's in pieces which are slightly too big to pull out. So I put them away for now.

I soldered and used a screwdriver. Then took needle nose pliers and pulled the pieces out

I did it. You'll need a lot of patience and time. The best way to do it without breaking and scratching things is with a soldering iron. Use at least a 33 watt soldering iron, buy it in Radio Schack or find someone to borrow it. "Draw" or cut a cross + from one edge to the other, that way you can extract the pieces without forcing them through the bulb socket. Another tip, put aluminum foil, "Reynolds Wrap" or something similar around the edge of the bulb socket, you don't want to melt that edge with the heat of the soldering iron.

Hope this help, and remember, fill yourself with patience, if not, don't do it, but it's worth it.

They are talking about clearing the orange part, not the whole assembly. Got to www.ntpog.org they have pretty good instructions.
