Check Engine light is on.

I filled up my car at a "Gulf" station. After about a quarter of a tank, the "Check Engine" light went on and the mileage came out to something awfull. Next time I refueled at "Amoco" and the light went off. Refueled again at the same "Amoco" and the light is back on. What to do next? Should I take it in to the dealer (or somebody else in the NY/NJ area? Suggestions?) for diagnostics? Any suggestions appreciated.

Thank you.

The guy I had writing up the 4th Gen part went to sleep on me. I'll have to take pictures myself next time I'm out.
