Cheap or expensive brakes?

Hi all,

I just have a standard Prelude '98 2.0 133PS. So there is no tuning at all.
Now, my car has got almost a full maintenance, I just need to change it's whole brake system. But I have few questions:

When I was on the market to buy new brake discs, I found out that there is a very cheap one, for like 60 dollars for the front and a little less for the back ones. And then there is the one with a brand on "STOPTECH", which is about 250 dollars for the front and 170 for the back. I searched it on the internet and they say that it is a good brand. It could be... But do I need it? I mean, I like to feel secure in my car, that's actually the only reason why I am asking this question. Am I going to feel more secure with this kind of brakes? Or just standard brakes will be enough?

And what if, if I just go expensive on the front ones, and cheap on the back ones? Will the car still break on a straight line? Or will it go sideways?

And what about the tires?

I just need a little explanation, or maybe link. I appreciate, thanks.

Standard brakes will work fine for you, unless you do autocross.

Even if he does autoX, the standard brakes would be fine.

Track days are another story.

A quality blank rotor is all you need. TireRack has a great brand that is cheap and comes with the non-friction surfaces powder-coated > Centric Plain 120 Series Rotors

For pads, depending on what you are wanting to do with the car, I would have different recommendations. If you are wanting to track the car, like an HPDE, I would highly recommend a dedicated pad and rotor. If you are just driving spiritedly and an occasional autoX, a good dual-purpose pad would be fine > Carbotech AX6 or Hawk HP+

For most of us, the expensive size increasing brake upgrades are a bling item only.
