changing new clutch is worth is ? suggestion plz?

Hey fourms so i recently brought a prelude sh 99 and the clutch was worn out but it could of last several more months but just yesterday I burn out the clutch now its at my friends shop and he says it needs and new clutch and a flywheel and he said to do everything around 1000-1500 he trying to look for another shop to do it but he says its around that price because of labor and hes telling me that i should sell the car instead of doing everything because i brought the car at 3.1 salvage and i could only sell it around 1k-2k if im lucky but everything is runs good but now its the clutch and Im not sure what to do right now any suggestions i dont want to sell the car because i really enjoy driving it but 1500 to change it is way over my budget and i live in honolulu hawaii so if any1 knows any shops can do it for cheap plz lmk

1500?? doesn't sound like much of a friend. sh is more of a pain to change, but not 1200 more... hope that includes top of the line parts.

If you can get the tools and one or two friends to help you, it shouldn't be too bad. When you start handing people money to do a job that you can't accurately judge, that's when you start losing far more money than you should.

Do some research, and do it yourself. Even when paying a mechanic, it should only cost around $5-600. That's still a rip off.

Do you have a phone book? Get one and spend an hour calling every mechanic shop you can to give you a quote. Also talk to friends/family for reputable and reasonably priced shops in town.

You're going to have to do this the old fashioned way.
