Changing my clutch.

it's just a matter of time before my clutch burns out, it's been making some nasty sounds for the past few months. my question is how hard is it to change it. would it be easier to remove the engine from the car? i know that sounds crazy but i had a hell of a time disconnecting my tranny from my old engine on a stand. so how hard is it doing it in the car?
thanx

It's going to take more time to pull the whole engine, but not much, really. I'd do a ton of maintenance if I pulled the engine though, timing belt, front main seal, balance shaft seals, oil cooler o-ring, etc. Do all the stuff that's harder to do with the engine in the car. Oh, and replace all the hoses.

The problem with removing the whole engine is that the AC lines make it a real PITA. Not hard, but it's so much easier without the AC lines in the way! One thing I would suggest is removing the crank pulley and throttle body for sure.

I can remove the transmission from my car in about 2 hours, but it's missing the AC system, which makes it a little easier. Getting the tranny out is the easy part, it's getting back in that's a PITA. Remove the front crossmember and R&R will go much quicker.
