changing gear oil

hey, I'm planning on flushing my manual transmission, and i was wondering what kind of tools i'll be needing, as well as the viscosity of honda MTF (i feel like buying another brand of gear oil.) from what i understand i'll be needing to buy 3qts of oil, but i want to make sure that i have everything else i need to change this suff. thanks for the help.

I used Honda MTF. I've heard too many stories of other fluids screwing up the trans. The trany drain plug is large (forgot the size)...make sure you have the proper size wrench/socket for it. Replace the washers. I used just over 2 quarts, so 3 should be fine. I also used a fluid pump, which works great if you don't have an extra set of hands. Make sure the car is level when refilling...I put it up on four jack stands. Refilling gets a bit messy - you fill until it starts running out..then plug it. Use a torque wrench on the plug. It's a pretty easy job. Good luck!

3/8 inch socket and get one of those long-neck oil funnels from autozone. it fits in there nicely.

i think i used 2 quarts. nothing special besides the usual tools, maybe except for the pump.
