Changed timing belt - now there's a whirring sound?

I recently had my timing belt, balance belt, autotensioner, water pump, & drive belts replaced. Now, whenever I accelerate, my car makes a high-pitched whirring sound. Similar to a supercharger but higher in pitch and more annoying. I've read that this could be from the timing belt being on too tight? I've taken it back to the mechanic and they said it would go away in time. Anyone have any input? The sound is really starting to piss me off. It's been a couple hundred miles and it's still there.

I know what you mean I have the same sound on mine and now that I put my AEM intake on I don't notice it anymore. I have a 97 SH and I bought it that way

I'd wonder about the auto tensioner. That was something i remembered hearing caused a funky sound. Plus i'd have someone rev it and try to find where it comes from. If its truely the belt being on to tight, you will hear it coming from between two pulleys

It shouldnt be the auto tensioner if its just a whining sound. I would check the tension on all the belts, thats probably what is causing it.

this happened to me after changing my timing belt in my previous car, and i was also told by my mechanic that it would eventually go away.

mine wasn't horribly bad, but it was annoying. i meant to look into it more, but i just let it go, eventually getting used to the noise. around 500 miles later i put some belt dressing on one day when i was bored, and about 2 weeks later the sound went away. probably wasn't because of the dressing since it was weeks after applying, but just thought i'd share.

I think the noise comes from the a/c belt. I had my timing belt and etc. changed recently at a honda specialty store, and they put on an off brand a/c belt that made that noise, while they ordered the original stock a/c belt from honda. After the original a/c belt was put on, the noise was gone.

ive heard alot of people having the same "whirring" noise, because Ive had it too when I replaced the timing belt. I think its the belt breaking in period because 5k kms later it went away completely and I dont hear it at all anymore

I too have an annoying whirring noise.... almost like the sound of something rubbing from the pullies or like a whobbly cam gear seeming like coming loose. it's been awhile since honda changed the timing belt.

the whirring noise is from the belt. it will happen 99% of the time when you change the belt.
