center console

I want to replace the center console. Specifically, I want to replace the carpet section in the front of the shifter, kind of underneath the center dash section.

Is there any way I can replace just the carpet? Or even the center console? The carpet is just really nasty because the previous owner smoked like three packs of cigarettes a day IN THE CAR!

Thanks.
-Brian.

that carpet is just stuck on with glue, so if you go to a trimmer, get some off cuts and glue it on yourself....fixed!

I had to do that when i changed my carpet colour

Trimmer? You mean like a carpet upholsterer?

I'm thinking that maybe I should just keep it the way it is. I've been calling around, and it seems that it isn't a separate piece, but a piece that comes with the whole floor carpet.

My only concern was that since I bought a carbon fiber dash kit, and the center console is a stick-on, if i became so disgusted with the center carpet that I wanted to change it, I would also be out of a center console.

In any case, I'm thinking of changing the center console as well, since much of the ashes fell in there too.

Can someone tell me please how to remove the center console?

LewdLude, thanks for your response.

Thanks.
-Brian.

TO REMOVE THE CENTER CONSOLE ALL YOU NEED IS A SCREWDRIVER,PULL OFF THE TWO FRONT CARPETED PIECES ALMOST UNDER THE DASH,THERE IS A SCREW ON EACH SIDE,THEN SLIDE BOTH SEATS FOWARD AND GET IN THE BACK SEAT,THERE ARE TWO SCREWS ON THE BOTTEM OF THE CONSOLE HOLDING IN THE REAR TRIM COVER,REMOVE THEM AND THE COVER,THEN ON EACH SIDE IN THE BACK THERE IS TWO SCREWS ON EACH SIDE,REMOVE THEM AND LIFT UP THE CONSOLE,REMOVE THE ONE WIRE CLIP ON THE INSIDE OF THE CONSOLE FOR A LIGHT OR SOMETHING,MAKE SURE THE E BRAKE IS UP ALL THE WAY AND THE SHIFTERKNOB IS REMOVED AND YOU SHOULD BE DONE.HOPE EVERY THING WORKS WELL FOR YOU..THATS HOW MINE CAME OUT I HAVE AN 01' SH, IT SHOULD BE THE SAME..GOOD LUCK
