Celica GT-S six speed

MAN!! I raced one of those tonight and I can't believe he actually pulled on me. I had him off the line but by the time I got to 4th gear I was at his rear bumper. I talked to him at the light and all he had was an air intake. Those cars are FAST!

Of all the "sport compacts" I've driven over the last 2 years, the Celica felt best to me. It really does feel like a Porsche.

The only mod I have done is a Tanabe racing medalion exhaust. It has been a while since I reset my ECU, maybe that had something to do with it!

Yeah, I used to own a 2001 Celica GT so I hung out on the Celica boards, went to their meets, etc.. and learned all I could about them.. the 6 speed GT-S are very quick cars if you know how to drive them. The trick is to just stay up in VVTL-i range which is tough since it doesn't kick in until around 6200 RPM's ... But if the driver can do that he'll most likely beat you - especially if he has an intake or exhaust.

For the 2002 model Celica's, however, Toyota decided to lower the rev-limiter which makes it damn near impossible to keep the engine in lift for the 1-2 shift so the older ones (2000-01) are probably a little bit faster.

i think 180 hp/130 torque... prob around 2700 pounds

keeping it in vvtl-i is quite hard as i have seen.... and they made it even harder like modern angel said

i have a friend with a six-speed GT-S and i have no problem getting him throughout every gear and he's a pretty good driver too. We both have intake and exhaust and thats about it. His is a 2000 too. Oh well everyone has a different experience.

2650 lbs in their cars. pretty light, and to top it off, celicas respond VERY well to mods (ours only responds marginally to mods)...
