my VIS hood is in the mail and on the way supposedly the old VIS hoods were of poor quality, but that's b/c they were made by Sunny Styling.. that's no longer the case..
I've had 2 CF hoods in the past year and I would have to say that the one I got from TC Spoilers was the better one by far. The first one I had was supposedly Sunny Stylings and it was paper thin, had ripples, and the gloss was very poor. The hood was very light and it had a fiberglass skeleton w/hood latch. Some lady ran a red light and hit me at my drivers side fender/bumper and the hood bent up about 4-6 inches but amazingly, no cracks and no rips (although the clear coat cracked a little). Behold the power of Carbon Fiber.
The hood I have now is IMMACULATE. The gloss is beautiful, fitment is perfect, weave/patter in perfect, and the underbody has a full skeleton that looks like stock and has a metal hood latch. 2 of my friends have a FiberImages hood and that thing is perfect too. Just make sure that when you buy it, you KNOW you're getting the brand you want because most hoods don't have a stamp saying what company made it (esp the cheaper ones).
I too have a fiber images hood and i must say it is awesome. It weighs nothing (compared to our heavy ass stocker) and looks beautiful. Really nice fit and no hood pins too!!!
i went to fiberimages.com right bc i wanted to see what they looked like and price, did i not find them bc the only one i saw was on a fourth gen prelude. i have a 97 and the list says 93-97, are they the same hood?
i got it on friday...heres the story...went to vis to buy it from them for 350..we get there, box is partially open and we see a crack on the fiberglass skeleton...didnt think damage was so bad..they offered a new one, but would have to wait 2 hours...we were in a big hurry tho to get back down to sd..so we offered to buy it cracked...so they said 250..we bought and took it home. when i got home to open the rest of the box...saw 2 more cracks on the edges...damn..so i got beat...i wanna sell it and buy another one
o yea...and its not even that light! id say like 20-30 pounds..thats whack..honestly, it looks like it could break easily...the only thing i do like is the weave...looks badass!
saga, random question...but since you live in SD area...have you dealt w/ ARD? i just bought my wheels from them, and the customer service was excellent. they gave me a ridulously SWEET deal.
really? wha rims and how much? they arent that popular around here...i think they are way to expensive...and their customer service is really nothin to brag about...theyre nice, but pricey...
