car starts...studders...dies

hey guys im going to make this quick:

when i turn the ignition to the car it turns on for about 3 seconds than shuts off. Throughout those 3 seconds the car studders and jerks in place. I try it again, and the same jerk occurs.

I get an engine light and my honda tech buddy came over and replaced the map sensor but still the problem persists. He suggests that i may need a tune-up (which i do) but why else could this problem be occuring.

Definitely check into the code if you havnt already. As for a tune up, ignition is vital for an engine to run properly. If you have fouled plugs or worn out cap, rotor, or wires the engine wont start right or run smoothly. You may also have a fuel filter problem.
