Very strange . . . . my first impulse is to say it's the fuel pump.

I know it's out of your hands now - but a quick way to see if it's still working is to let it sit for a spell, then turn the key to the on position. You should be able to hear the pump turn on and pressurize the fuel system. If you take out the bottom seat cushion you can hear it pretty easily.

np

Hopefully Honda doesn't rape you for diagnostic charges....

Daemione is right about the seat. It is really easy to take out too, if you don't have a helms, just feel under both sides of the cushon and you should feel a hook. The very front of that there is a tab you have to pull out twards the front of the car and that will release the seat and you can pull it out. The pump access door is under the trunk mat near the back seat, so even if you fold down the back seat and take out your trunk mat you should be alble to hear it well. Pull off the wires and you can test to make sure there is voltage getting to it.

Interesting nobody mentioned that perhaps your flywheel teeth are not aligned with the starter, hence crank but no start. :/

That doesn't explain why it died though. That and you would just hear the starter whirring, not the typical turning over sound.

this happens to me sometime,s problem :: Ignition relay (under the steering column I think)

When you turn the key and wait, usually you hear a "clicK" of the ignition relay turning off .. if theres no click, the car will turn over but not start.

Have you checked for spark ? ..

If theres a grounding issue you wont get spark, and as a result no gas either.

If you have tilt (i asume you do) jam the steering wheel up and down then turn the key and try again ... I am pretty sure this is common on our car (4gen anyways)

UPDATE Number 2 October 15, 2004 1700EST
I just got back from Honda. Turns out that the NGK wire melted the distributor cap. As you can see the one wire is melted. Glad it wasn't something more major.

My friend said that the NGKs do not provide enough resistance and that was why the wire melted.

Glad to hear that! Did you look at your car at all before taking it to the dealer though? Or just not mechanically inclined? I cannot see your pics right now.. so i dont know how obvious the damage was.
