Can you swap stock ecu's in 5th gens? Immobilizer???

I am putting a stock ecu of another 5th gen into my 5th gen and i asked a shop about it and he said something about an immobilizer built into the ecu? he said that the car won't start? is this true? any idea if this is true or what i can do????

Yes 5 gens have the immobilzer system which prevents a hotwire, it is built into the ECU, ignition system and keys. If the code chip inside the key does not match the ecus, the car will not start. Therefore the car will not start at all without the proper key. Call honda to ask them how much to reprogram a set of keys.

would it be worth it to convert it to obd 1? just buy the harness and get a obd1 ecu from a 4th gen?

my bf and I were talking to this guy once who swapped a h22 manual engine into a accord auto and they had the problem of the immobilizer on the accord ecu. The guy sed he had to use a '96 prelude ecu to make it work. I think that's what he said. Maybe you could try that.

You need to take the new ECU to your Honda dealer and have them recode it to match your ignition column Immobilizer.
