Can I direct wire V1 without the kit?

I'm wondering if i can just use a fuse tap and just plug a fuse into my fusebox. I've already had to hack apart my cigarette lighter adapter for my Valentine1 and have the wires directly soldered to the adapter and the concealed display. I was wondering if I could just use a fuse tap and connect directly.

The main thing I'm worried about is the fact that the V1 fuse is 1 amp and the lowest fuse box ratings I think are 7.5 amps. Will plugging in a 1 amp fuse into a higher rated slot blow the fuse?

The fuse is 1amp because thats what the device is rated for. If the circuit overloads the fuse will then blow at 1amps protecting the device. This same principle applies to the fuses protecting the other circuits in the car.

Regardless of where you plug in your fuse tap, the device will pull however much current it needs. The fuse ratings in the fusebox simply denote the rating of the device/circuit they're protecting not the output of that fuse port. Technically you can't force a circuit to put out only a desired current since its the device on the other end decides how much current should be on that circuit at any given time.

Thanks for the quick response, just seems too simple to me I guess. Maybe I'll try doing the same with my GPS and AC adapter too...
