Cam Gears on an AT?

Hey guys, New in the PO Forum.

I have 99 5th Gen Prelude w/ CAI, DC Headers, AEM pulleys, VAFC, and planning on getting a Tanabe Super Racing Medallion from a fellow PO member. I was just wondering about cam gears. Unfortuanatley, my car isnt a manual just a triptonic, but i wanted to know if it would be a good idea in getting cam gears. Ive heard good and bad things, but the general idea is, that it wont be much help or any kind of HP gain.

Some have told me, with the VAFC, the cam gears can be a significant difference. im a bit confused...

btw, is there any good places in so cal, where they dyno.
Thanks.

Unless you put aftermarket cams in the car, cam gears wont make a big difference. If you do tune them with VAFC, you might see some gains, but only thing cam gears will let you do is move the powerband to where you want it.

^^^ Exactly. You would need aftermarket cams if you wanted to see any benefits from cam gears.
