CAI question

Hey i had a injen short ram intake tube. Everybody keeps on telling me "oh man you should get a cold air, you should get a cold air" So i finally broke down and got one, and i've done my little test twice. I put it on and it felt alright. but i live in seattle so i took it off for the winter. (rains alot). My car seemed like it ran much better with it off. So i thought oh thats just a butt dyno thats not true. So i put it back on yesterday and it seems like my car is performing was less than it did just a day ago, now i ask WTF????

I'm confused, anybody esle seem to have this problem?

By the way i know the likely hood of me getting water in my engine from rain is slim to none, but i don't take chances, love my car way to much. so no flames please. I'm really curious to see if anybody else has had this problem?

CAI results in more top end power with a loss in low end torque... short ram is kind of the opposite... you get more low and mid range punch but lose top end... I think...

I'm pretty sure thats what happens but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Don't forget to reset the ECU, that could also explain a loss in power.

A lot of people get underdrive pulleys to make up for the loss in low end power.

If your getting impatient you could try looking at a hardware store for one.

AEM gave me a set with mine but they were too small. I had to go to the store and buy new ones.

yeah, they gave me the wrong thickness belt on the AEM pulley. go figure... the alternator pulley had 4 teeth instead of 6... It kept screeching everytime I started the car up, or when the A/C was on. I eventually went to Pep boys to get the right size belt. AEM... grr...

if you have problems when you buy something, then just contact AEM or what other company an tell them that they messed up an they'll usually fix it :: or go through hell tryin to buy a SIMILAR part from a generic hardware store
