Cadnium plated rotors?

Anyone know where I can find non-drilled Cad-plated rotors for the front and back? A few years ago they were sold on ebay real cheap, but I can't seem to find them anymore.

You'll be hard pressed to find them since Cadmium is a regulated metal in the US because it is poisonous to wildlife. The only thing legitimate that I found are discs meant for BBK's and nothing what you're looking for.

There are listings on eBay for cad-plated rotors but not what you're looking for. I'd honestly be skeptical about the quality of some rotors from a random factory in China, anyway.

What do you want cad-plated rotors for anyway? The only benefit is corrosion resistance on the hat and around the edge.

That's a pretty damn good reason to want them.

^Purely aesethic though unless your the type who never takes their rotors to a lathe (pretty cheap if you take em off yourself) and have them turned to remove the inner and outer rust lips that form.

I said resistance too, not prevention. They will rust like any other rotor over time.

Or you can just spray coat the rotors yourself. They make all sorts of stuff to apply to prevent rust.

If you paint the edges and the hat yourself, will it last longer than Cad plated? I just don't see how it will last longer.

It's not worth the premium in my opinion. The constant heating-cooling cycle will break down the cad plating on the edges and cause it to flake off. Yes it will probably last 100x longer than uncoated rotors, but is it worth buying the one cad plated rotor that's out there or some chinese bull****?

If you choose paint then you have a lot more brands to choose from. With proper prep the paint should last a while, not as long as the cad plating but it would keep the rust away until you need new rotors. But everything will corrode eventually - if they're made from steel - unless you get ceramic rotors or something.

Another option are zinc plated rotors, which a lot of the more expensive rotors are coated with. These rotors wont rust but the zinc corrodes as well. It turns a foggy, dull gray .... think of galvanized fence posts or something.

^ well that sums it up then. Makes sense to just paint them yourself.
