a/c and heater fans

recently, i've noticed that i cannot change the direction of my fans from time to time and its quite inconvenient since i constantly have to use my defroster. i know that they are working, i can feel the air blowing through the vents but not exactly the right ones i want them to. all the fan settings from low to high work but it just won't change where it blows from. for example, last night i tried changing it from front defroster to blowing out of the upper vents only, but it was stuck blowing from the footwell vents and the front defroster the entire time.

anyone else have this problem? any suggestions on how to fix this? any advice will help.

thanks in advance.

As 5th gens are beginning to to age they seem to develop the same problem as the 4th gen. Check the harness connection on the bottom of the climate control see if it's loose. The other fix requires you to remove the unit open it up and resolder the cracked joints on the circuit board.

There's a write up in the 4th gen section. Which should very similar to the 5th gen.
FAQ: 4Gen Climate Control Fix (flickering lights, non changing vents, sporadic a/c)

hey just finished reading the FAQ but unfortunately the pictures on that thread are dead and i'm not quite sure about the similarities and differences between the 4th and 5th gen prelude climate controls. if anyone has pictures of the circuit board and where to solder, it woud be great if you could post them. thanks.

Don't know if you're still around, but I have a similar problem too except only the highest blowing setting works for me as well... I guess I better start learning about soldering haha
