What location?
Performance wise, with the fact it is an auto with 160k miles, and no significant performance mods, there is nothing special about this to grant the price tag.
Visually, unless you have some particular appeal to those mods and like them, they shouldn't be factored into the equation. The car is clean though.
Personally I would stay away, as the auto transmissions are known to fail every 75k-150k (although they can last longer). If only you caught him before he payed 1000$ (or more) for the tranny work. I would familiarize yourself with the warnings about the auto transmission, look into 5spd swap costs (it is costly if you can't do it yourself, and takes time finding parts), and decide if it is worth it.
Well, you aren't in the middle of no where, if you want a Prelude but don't want a manual this is a nice clean car externally, and hopefully internally as well. (except the risks).
I would say you could get a similar or better condition manual for around the same price though.

Thanks man really appreciate the input, ive heard alot negatives bout the autos myself inside the car in nice too, clean with minor upgrades like indash dvd and upgraded sound. ac blows cold/ heater works good.
manual is ideal tbh if i dont get this car tho. any ideas besides ebay/craiglist on where to find a good 01 lude?
Great looking prelude! If you don't mind eventually swapping the tranny down the road then go for it. He definitely had good taste with his mods.
if only she was a manual, but ya cosmetically i love the car. it would be a daily driver so just not sure if i should go manual if im going to have issues with it or if it will just be normal upkeep

Dude i strongly advise not to get a automatic, they weigh way more than a manual, and have very poor reliability, chances are with the way the exterior looks, dude probably didn't baby it and vtec'ed the hell out of it. Ive had to replace an auto dude its just not worth it, everyday i regret not waiting to buy a manual.
On the other hand sharp looking car, you should find out if its dropped on real coilovers or just springs. I say sell the hood and lip and put the money on a manual changeover. Dude on here has a complete changeover for $750. I paid $650 for a used automatic transmission that was sitting in somebody's yard with mud all over it. (it worked and is still in there) good luck.

Thanks bro, ya im having doubts, cause i baby my vehicles but I like em fast. Heard auto is horrible in the winter too
So he had everything id need to switch to 5 spd for $750?
Where did you hear that??
I have an auto and it's fine in the winter as long as your not driving in 2 feet of snow.
Buy the car and be done with it.
I agree, test drive the car and listen for any odd noises or weird shifting. If everything seems solid, just buy it.
The car looks great and definitely has it's fair share of parts you can liquidate down the road to help pay for a 5 speed swap if you want that option.

because it's auto/milage? I was thinking about swapping to 5 spd which id est would be 3000+ depending on parts/labor
That means you'd be spending $10,000 for a Prelude. Why not just buy something that already has a 5spd for about $5,000?
Kids are so bad at math these days.
