Yeah, I guess it makes sense. Your fuel pump must've been pushing like a woman in labor, if it made that big of a difference. And to bo.link0, no, the fuel filter gets changed every 30K miles or so. I think. It's good to do when you do a tune-up. (spark plugs, cap & rotor, wires) I didn't change mine until about 100K. It was the original for sure. My car has meticulous service records, as the previous owner had every service done at the Honda dealership that I bought it from. When I bought the car, they gave me the service history, which is about as thick as a phone book. ( I mean he had EVERY service done at Honda) So I'm reading through it one day and see that the fuel filter was never changed. HA! I picked one up for like $12. And yes, it was kind of a PITA. It woulda been easier if I had the crowsfeet.

Yes the op did get his fuel filter replaced. Unfortunately he didn't post the results of the change. I really wish people would post an update when they say they will. It's frustrating reading through an entire thread only to get to the end and realize that you know as much about solving the original issue as when you first started reading the thread(especially if you are having similar issues).

How is it going Mayankind and Moneymagnet. The results were unconclusive as I saw only a small decrease in my gas consumption. My gas still fluxuates from high to low. I saw maybe a month of better fuel consumption and it was back to high burning again.

However, I still standby the claim of my windows and moonroof opening much faster. They haven't changed since my last report. So the fuel filter did help in that particular situation.

I haven't bothered since in trying to solve this problem. My next move will probably be to replace the fuel injectors. There is a chance that they are not spraying a fine mist like they are suppost to be doing so if a year of fuel injector cleaner doesn't seem to solve my problem I figure just replace the unit.

Short of replacing plugs there are a few expensive sensors I could replace but I figure I will replace the injectors first.

Regards,
Chris

Hi Chris,

I understand that you noticed the consumption went back to the same after the first month too. Weird it happened to me. But I do notice my car feels alot better and is a little more responsive didn't know that about the windows. By the way don't even bother doing it yourself I did it and I can say my back hurts it's not worth it at all but I guess I know how to do it now. My one had been on for 120,000km's.
