first off, dont drive the car till you figure out what the problem is

and it dosent sound like your clutch ir gone either, my car's clutch burned out about 4 months after i got it (80% previous owner) But the symptoms of a burned out clutch would be like, when enganing 1st from a stop, care just slips and slips and slips, then finally grips, and sometimes when driving (usually when a lot of torque is used) all the sudden the car will jus rev real high like u had jus slipped the clutch in or somthin. and u will smell alot of clutch also.

but i never saw somke when mine was going. and i NEVER had any oil leaks, and the power never dipped, but instead went in bursts of high rpm.

jus do a no brainer check of everything, like checking oil level, check for oil leaks, make sure everything is running ok(besides the obvious) and if u dont get anything from here, at least have it checked out by a mechanic....hell, i know i would!

The fastest way but primitive way to check if your clutch is burnt is to drive at 30 mph and shift into 5th gear. Step on the gas and if the engine starts to rev but you don't accelerate, that's a big sign letting you know that your clutch is burnt. Plus when your clutch is burnt it has a metallic sort of smell - different from rubber and oil.

ok i went to go snowboarding this weekend and got stuck going up the mountain in traffic for 2 hours. By the time I got to the top i started seeing smoke coming from my hood so i finally got to a parking lot to check it out and the smoke was coming from this little square hole a bit to the left of the headers so i'm thinking i burned itany advice before i take it to the shop?
