Broken Cruise Control

I only use my cruise when I'm coming home from a late night but last Saturday I went to use it and nothing.. the cruise button lights up but when I press the set button nothing happens. I'm curious if anyone else has had this problem before. My brother checked the fuses and said they're good. I was thinking about relocating the buttons b/c I wanted a smaller steering wheel but now I'm just annoyed with it!!

I dont even have 90k on my lude!!! This stinks!! I use it every weekend on the way home from balt. 70's a long straight shot to my house and my feet usually hurt from dancing in heels. Looks like the lude isn't venturing out this weekend.

No one has any experience with it?!

Only thing I can think of is the actual cruise control button itself. It may light up but its not working properly. Thats what happened to mine before it went out. The light would go on but the cruise wouldnt work like how you are stating above. I bought a 4th gen cluster to replace the whole cruise control switch itself and now it works fine.

Same thing happened to a co-worker's 1998 2.3CL 5MT, and I was thinking the same thing, so I'm sure that's all it is.

I didn't have CC in my base Lude either, but that was becauase the previous owner gutted it out, along with the A/C, vib. dampener, rear seatbelts & anchors, speakers, etc.

It doesn't weigh very much. Maybe 5lbs at most.

See if it will work with the headlights OFF. Mine seems to work when my headlights are off. It's weird. I haven't gotten around to fixing it.

yeaaaah if I turn my headlights off it works.. but new problem. NOW MY HORN WONT WORK. I know I dont need it, but the fact that it's broken really annoys me. TIME FOR A NEW STEERING WHEEL. New question.. how do I turn the SRS light off once I remove the streering wheel? I mean I know 'take the bulb out' but is there any other way??

if you buy an aftermarket wheel with no airbag, they sometimes come with resistors that fool the ecu into thinking there is an airbag, which prevents the light from comming on. Otherwise, you can just remove the bulb from the cluster, and tell your passenger to grab a pillow if you get into an accident.

I'm terrified of the airbag actually. My friends went off in her accident and burned her face pretty badly. I'd prefer NOT to have one. I didn't know they came with resistors though, thats definitely a plus. If I turn mine off, it doesnt turn off the pass. does it?

You've gotta be kidding me. Airbags save lives. She was burned because sometimes the chemicals to make them deply can get on the skin. If you wash it off asap then you probably won't get a burn

I've had this problem. There was one time my horn and cruise control didn't work. This was a few years ago so I can't remember exactly what my mechanic replaced. If I remember correctly it was some kind of coil or something. I'll have to ask my dad if he remembers (He was with me at the time). I'll let you know.

Air bags hurt u just as much as seat belts can. Granit, the MAJORITY of the time they save lives, it still creeps me out knowing that something is going to explode in front of my face, bruise me all up and possibly burn me. I was in the car when my friends airbag went off on her, the pass. didn't have one and I was fine. It freaked me out.

DEFINITELY let me know what your father says, this stinks!!!
