Brakes?

well my brakes just don't satisfy me any longer, i was wondering if any of you guys have done brake work, and if it has actually worked.. my thoughts, were to buy 6 pot calipers for upfront and new rotors, and move the front brakes to the rear... but i am open to anyother suggestions, i think my brakes are at like 20%, so i need new pads, and i figured why not do this while i have that taken apart...

I don't even think six pot calipers exist for our rides. The biggest I've seen is 4 piston from makers such as spoon and brembo. These are all big $$$$. Not something you just do in the spur of the moment. And you cannot swap your front brakes to the rear, if you had any knowledge of the braking systema nd it's components you would know this.

6 pot calipers will be a HUGE task to put into a Prelude. Upgrading the master cylinder along with custom making some rims that have the offset to fit them will be a task in itself. The closest that you will find w/o custom work will be the Brembos but those cost over $2400. The best bang for the buck brake mod (if you want to upgrade the calipers) is the Legend GS / NSX front brake calipers. I actually have a set of these up for sale right now. But if you're determined to go 4-6 pot, your best bet is the Spoon or Baer calipers. Otherwise you're looking custom from AP or Wilwood.

That's why the other day I was wondering if the Wilwood package now available for the RSX would fit on a Prelude? Anyone know? They are offering a 4-piston caliper kit.

I believe that only the Type-R shares our braking system. You could probally get the brakes to work but it would require custom work. You're better off getting a set of Baer brakes and probally cost a lot less than the Wilwood as well. But also note that the Type-R compatible brakes aren't a perfect fit, they're actually offset a little bit differently and the inner (i believe it's the inner) pad will always wear faster than the outer.

Wilwood makes an application for the Prelude. I'm waiting for the Wilwood rep at a local Sprint car shop to giveme a quote on how much he could get them to me for and also a better description of them as well.

The type r system is exactly the same except that the discs are thicker than a prelude...hence one pad wearing faster than the other...

there is a guy on honda-tech that put 6pot ap racing calipers on his type r...you might want to look over there...

Brembo also makes a replacement porduct for ludes...

i talked to the guy i get them from today and he inquired anbout the wrong thing today. in stead of asking his Wilwood rep for Prelude calipers he asked for Accord cals instead. hes going to try to check on the right thing next time. i really hate leaving you guys hanging like this
