Well I finally got me a 5th gen. It is a 5speed and black just like I wanted
Here are some poopy cell phone pics on its way to its new home...
MODS:
JDM Mugen Racing Seats*not knock offs*(for sale)
Skunk2 Cat-back exhuast
High flow catalyic converter
V2 AEM cold air intake
Sparco 4-point harnesses(sold)
Sparco roll/harness bar(for sale)
DC SPORTS Headers
CCC stage 2 clutch
New rim and tires (for sale)
I want to sell the Mugen Racing seats and the sparco roll bar. The seats are brand new and sat in a hand full of times. So if anyone in California is interested in trading me their stock seats that are in good condition plus some cash for these seats you are welcome to have them.
I got the car for a pretty good price but it has a cracked block. Does the SH have a special h22 block or can I use any h22 block?
I plan on fixing the car ASAP but just need to find a block...does anyone have one for sale in california?
That always cracks me up, racing seats, harness, and a roll bar with no real performance mods. Even funnier that he cracked the block somehow.
Anyway, I'm sorry you have to spend some much time removing the ugliness from your new car.
To answer your question, the SH block and the base block are NOT the same. You will need to get another SH block or just swap in the TypeS engine.

OH NOES!!!
I believe I remember reading something about being able to use a non SH block but having to drill and tap a hole for for one of the mounting points for the ATTS thing-a-ma-bob that bolts to the back of the block....
can someone tell me if this is true?
would it be cheaper to resleeve the block? Just one of the sleeves cracked...not the entire block...
Not sure what you'd need to do to make a non-SH block into an SH block. I do know that you'd have to mount the ATTS unit to it somewhere as you stated, but also relocate the oil filter. I may be wrong on this last one, but I think the knock sensor may need to be relocated.
Yea I am going to go buy some shops and see how much it will cost to resleeve the block. I dont think I am going to be able to find an SH block locally or in a very timely manner at all. So my best bet is to get it resleeved...
I am fairly certain that trying to make a base block into an sh block is a futile effort. You would have to move the oil cooler and filter locations, use a custom half shaft, magically mount the atts unit, and only the big guy upstairs is gonna make this happen. If some one somewhere has done so please send me the link on what needs to be done. Just swap out for the type s engine. By the way the previous owner thought that by adding seats and harness and visual mods he would be making more power and that is why his engine failed, good luck with your car man!!

haha yea he made some decisions on the car I would not have done but the owner was a pretty cool guy. I mean if the seats were not leather I would keep them but I am tired of leather seats but I would still ditch the harness bar and the harnesses.

Congrats man! Resources for SH blocks aren't very good around here, I know, but I really hope it goes smooth.
I had a block of mine recently resleeved, it was a 52-year-old I-6 from a ford, it was an iron block too. It cost 40 for the sleeve, and 100 for labor, I think it was a little steep, but I don't know...

I dont see how thats funny. there is a stock car that races events around my town that has only minor suspension work, racing seats and a harness. no power mods at all and he cleans house all day. As far as the block goes i dont know what to say.

Good luck man.
P.S. where'd you get it from?
Fresno's craigslist...got it for about the same price you bought yours for. You know anyone with an SH block??????

I really dont want to spend money on sleeves and new pistons and the labor to have it all done. I want to get things done in the most cost effective way possible and at this point I think buying a good used SH block would be the best way to go.
After a little work and some muscle I got the intake and head out whole...
Engine as it is now
Can you see the crack in the #4 cylinder sleeve?
I have a block being shipped to me and I should have it Thursday I was told, so hopefully this upcoming weekend I can rebuild the engine and start putting the engine back into the car the following weekend.
Wait until it is done...you will not recognize the engine bay
