Alright guys, anyone good with wiring wanna help me bust this? Btw, if anyone tells me to go to some other thread dont bother cuz that one had a buncha dead links/pictures and involved LEDs and stuff.. newayz this is wut i'm trying to do.
5th gen prelude btw.
What i want:
-Turn signal to blink normally when switch is hit
-Turn signal to be always ON when parking lights are also on
-Turn signal to blink when switch is hit even when parking lights are on
What i did:
-Disconnected turn signal negative, connected it to a new wire
-Spliced the sidemarker (parking light) positive, and connected the new wire.
What happened when i did that:
-When parking lights are off, turn signal blinks 2x fast if activated
-When parking lights are on, turn signal is steady burning
-When parking lights are on and turn signal is activated, turn signal blinks 2x fast, sidemarker is still steady burning
-When sitting inside of car, if parking light is off, and turn signal is activated, blinker blinks 2x fast on the gauge cluster
-When sitting inside of car, if parking light is on, turn signal indicator on gauge cluster is dimly lit
-When sitting inside of car, parking lights on, and turn signal is activated, turn signal goes from dimly lit, to brightly lit, and back and forth.
Ok so basically i got the results i wanted, BUT it has two flaws: the 2x blinker aka hyperblinker (which i dont mind really),
and how the turn signals will be dimly lit on the gauge cluster when the parking lights are on, when the turn signals are not activated.. and when they are they'll light up brighter.. it isn't much but its annoying to see two green things on when they aren't supposed to be.. just dim..
so anyone know a solution to this or a better way? Maybe get the sidemarker to alternate with the blinker too? and when i mean alternate i mean it as an added feature if possible, not just alternate with the blinker normally, i can already do that. any help would be appreciated =-)
I posted that up a long time ago, but I haven't tried it. I think it'll work tough. You're welcome to try it out and get back with me and let me know.
When parking lights are on, side markers and turn signals are on.
When parking lights are on and turn signal is one, side markers and turn signals will blink simultaneously.
When parking lights are off and turn signal is on, parking lights and sidemakers will blink simultaneously.
That drawing is one circuit for one side of the car. You'll need two. It would be a good idea to enclose each one in a little plastic project box like the ones you can buy at Radio Shack. 3 relays and a project box per side plus extra wire should run you about $40.
That one involves buying more relays though. And the car itself already has a relay and i dunno where it is! Anyone else know a better way? or anyone know where the stock relays are located??

If you want different functionality, you're probably going to have to buy different parts. I don't know what else to tell you. The only other solution I've seen involves 2 relays and a diode per side IIRC. I liked my solution better because I made it (but, like I said, I don't know if it'll work correctly since i haven't tried it). Good luck.
(By the way, in most cars I've worked on, the turn signal relay is in the fuse box. Check the one in the kick panel and under the hood)
I dont know if its legal btu wut would cops know, just say tehy're foglights.. they look like em.. =-P as for the sidemarker blinking i know its illegal cuz ur supposed to have a sidemarker permanently on at nite, if u want it to blink u should get a sepearte sidemarker.
