blazing hot

brand new to the fourms and im gonna not make a good first impression. so heres the story...recently got a 98 prelude sh all stock with 125k miles from a dealership. car looked fine with minor dents and test drove it and noticed that 5th grinded a little but otherwise seemed like a good buy. got the car for 7800 which wasnt that bad of a price coming from a dealship. had the car for about 3 days b4 the p/s belt broke on me. u can see that the serpentine belt had just been replaced and i thought the p/s was too but wasnt sure cuz the belt flew out. anyways drove it home and told my parents bout the problem (im 17). so we went out and looked at it and u can the crankshaft pully wobbling. so took it to a shop and had them look it. the pully was brand new and spun fine on a table and looked good. they said the crank was bent. talked to the dealship, which has 1000mile warranty on the car and they said i had bent it. dont get me wrong i get into it and all but theres no way i could have done that. 411 the previous owner and she had traded in the car cuz she was having so much trouble with it. the crank was bent b4 i got it she said. the dealship will fix it but i have to pay 50% of what the total cost would be. so of course they wanted like 3 grand to fix it and i might have put 300 miles on it the whole time ive had it. im just so ****ing mad right now and was hoping someone here could help me make a case? i dont know but thanks for reading.

Oh man, I have the exact same problem! My crank pulley wobbles. I was going pretty fast on the on-ramp one day and all of a sudden I lost my power steering. I pulled over and I can see my belts broke off. Waited for tow, but it took too long. I decided to drive it home. Now I dont know if my pulley wobbled before that happened, or if I was the cause of it by driving it home and not getting it towed. Got a new pulley and belts installed, they also did my timing belt. With the new pulley it still wobbled. Mechanics says I have a bent crank and that if I wanted to fix it, it would be cheaper to replace the whole engine. Dont have the money for that, so as of right now I drive with the pulley wobbling. I replace the belts every 4 months and take it easy on the turns.

I had my crank pulley replaced twice under warranty and then once after that. IIRC the thought was it was being over torqued when installed causing it to warp, doesnt explain why the first one warped though.

So how much would it had cost if it wasnt under warranty?

No clue, when I had it done out of warranty I bought a used one and the local guy I used was dirt cheap. It's not a bad job at all but it takes a ton of effort to break torque on the crank bolt.
