Big bragging rights for 5th gen owners

so i'm cruising along today and i'm getting followed by a cop while going through a school zone at about 20 mph, and he's on my ass for quite a few blocks, finally flips his lights on, comes up to the window as usual, states "the reason i've pulled you over today is because i could hear your bass from behind you" now the only reason this gives us mad bragging rights is because my system is completely stock. all my friends with big systems were all jealous because it's never happened to them. after the cop told me it was just a warning i told him i'd prefer a written warning over verbal so i have the proof . this will probably be my last post on p.o. as i'm trading the lude for a gs400, i'd like to thank everyone on the site for all your help you've given me over the last two years.

Yep, cops are just looking for PC (probable cause) to pull someone over. Often this is created, manufactured, or a blatant lie.

Or I guess; my stock exhaust isn't stock, my car smells of alcohol at all times, I constantly kiss the fog line, and my working license plat bulb really is broken.

OT:

I got pulled over by the cops last week I just got of my p/t gig at 0230 hrs heading home. I was pretty much the only one on the road - going the speed limit. All of a sudden out of nowhere this car appears right behind me - tailing my arse. I look in my rear view mirror and could tell it was a cop. (He wanted a better look at my plates so he could run it.) I wasn't doing anything wrong so I wasn't worried. The he pulls away from my arse approximately 2 car lengths. So I thought I was in the clear (What he's really doing is getting my details from dispatch). I'm know I'm on the system but I did nothing wrong so I have nothing to worry about. Right? WRONG! I pull into lane one to give him the right of way as I was in the fast lane. He follows me. Then he turns on his lights. "Great!" I thought I pull over and turn on my hazards. "This cop has nothing better to do" I thought.

Oh I forgot to mention, I work for the cop shop. What dispatch was relaying to him was my clean record and reports that I have filed while working at said cop shop.

Our conversation went like this:

Officer: Licence and registration please.
Me: Sure. (And proceed to give it to him. As I take out my DL my police ID is exposed as it was right behind my DL. I'm not sure if he noticed it)
Officer: Where are you coming from?
Me: Work.
Officer: Where do you work?
Me: I just got off shift at Coast Mountain Bus Company (Transit system here in Vancouver for those of you that are unfamiliar) where I work p/t.
Officer: So you just renewed your insurance eh?
Me: Yup.
Officer: Thanks. Have a good night. (Gives back my DL and registration)

The end

Never been pulled over in my current car. Previously had a 3rd gen though and one time there was a car following me with their high beams on. A mate in the back seat flips them the bird and then on come the lights. Pull over, cop comes up calls me a dickhead, my mate an arsehole, then leaves. Actually got pulled over quite a bit in that car.

I don't like most cops.

I've had a few RX-7s and a Mustang... always getting pulled over in them.

Later in life I owned a Lincoln Town Car and Crown Vic... NEVER got pulled over in those.

Now I have a Prelude... crosses fingers

its not the problem with them being an authority; they are one. its the problem that they think the average person should kneel down to them. as if they make the world spin.

Ya and no. Glove compartment and trunk it off limits and that needs a definite warrant. No warrant no care. You can actually sue them for searching your trunk and glove compartment without a proper warrant. Never heard of it but my cop friend told me. Anything of an arms length in your driver seat they can search but not trunk or glove compartment. Maybe Im wrong but Im pretty sure my friend is right. 9 years on the force.

People who honestly believe cops are corrupted or do not abide their own regulations, can't you ask yourself a few questions...

1) Do you really believe they can be perfect 24/7?
2) How many other drivers or people do they have to put up with that are ACTUALLY assholes and wouldn't you kinda begin to be rough on others?

Most importantly, aren't they humans like us, and make mistakes like anyone, also they carry such high expectations, anything that seems 'unlawful' or inappropiate that they do, is always to the extreme... Give them a break, most of them give us breaks... We call them to protect us when protection is needed, can't judge every move on their behalf, thats just... Wrong!

i understand the perspective of a few bad eggs ruining it for the rest. sure that's understandable. but when i act civil to a cop and he proceeds to **** on me because he's judging me by the fact that i'm young and have a nice car, i will judge them 'til i stop breathing.

Yeah, when he asks to search your vehicle simply reply, "I do no consent to any searches."

Make him go by the system instead of harassing people and searching on a whim.
