I am going to get some rims and would like to get 18"s. Would I be better off with 17"s. Price is not a factor. I just thought they would look much better. Will I have any problems?
i think most, if not all, will agree that 18s look better than 17s, although the problem w/ 18s, is you run a higher risk of damaging, denting your wheels..
18's look better, cost more, weigh more and get bent easier
17's look good, are cheaper, and ride smoother (usually more tire between the rim and the road vs 18's)
17's all the way, if you want GO, if you want SHO, then 18's.
SCC did a review a while back comparing 16,17 and 18 in terms of acceleration, corner handling, braking. using timed trials and measuring other stuff like rotating inertia.
Acceller Difference btwn 16 and 17 is negligble ...no way on the 18's
17's corner better, patch area.
my advice, buy some high quality, strong, lightweight 17's that weigh 16lbs or less. This quality will prolly run you upwards of $280 per rim.
Go for what you think looks better, I like the 17's more myself but just because I want to make my car faster, but 18's look damn good on a lowered Lude.
