I was just looking into buying some shocks/struts to go along with my Ground Controls. But i was just wondering which are the "best" shocks out there. I was also wondering about the height of my car, since its lowered about 1-1.5" wouldn't I have to get a shock with a shorter rod/stroke/what-ever-you-call-it so that its not partially compressed all the time?
I also remember talking to a friend a while back about getting Koni's but he mentioned something about only the bound or rebound is adjustable (or something like that).
Oh and in the future I may be getting some Nuespeed or Eibach Pro-Kits springs (0.5-1" drop), coilovers are illegal in Hawaii and thats where i'll be ging in the near future.
Oh and on a final note I do have the KONI adapters for the GC's.
I recomend the Koni Yellows. They are just truely awesome

Gotta be Koni Yellow, plus if you wanna get tricky have them shortened and valved special for what you want to do. Do this before you put them on the car for the first time.
Are these the same Koni yellows that go for about $540? I'm getting GC coilovers soon too and after that, I'll be a little low on the money scale. How do tokico illumina's and kyb agx's (both adjustable) compare with koni's? Are there really differences between shocks?
So i guess everyone here likes the Koni Yellows, but a couple of questions about them. I can't remember if they are adjustable, do they have the little knob on top to adjust the softness?
And about the Tokico Illuminas, I had a bad experience with them 2 years ago when they were installed onto my 99 Civic Si along with Eibach sportlines. The shop that installed them lost the adjusting knob that goes on the top of the front left shock and when they suggested that I remove the front right adjuster knob and put it on the left it ended up breaking off!! so in short I was unable to adjust shock settings on the front of my Si.
One other thing I didn't like about the Illuminas was the adjuster knob would keep turning and turning and not stop! does the Koni do the same thing?
And one other question about getting shocks with a shorter rod, can I order them from Koni or somebody else with a specified rod length, or would it have to be custom done?? or am i just looking/thinking into this whole short rod thing to much?
And does anyone know of any good sources about basic and advanced suspension setups. Like breakdown of parts, how it functions and all that good stuff.
The Koni Yellows are fully adjustable. They are height and stiffness adjustable. They will not change stiffness while driving either. I set them almost a year ago and played around with them here and there, and they have never "moved" inbetween changings. And getting a shorter rod will be a special operation that will probably cost some.

You can't order them like that. You would have to buy them, then send them off to Koni to have any custom work done. If you're going to shorten the rod, you might as well shorten the damper body and gain some suspension travel.

Konis are only adjustable for rebound, not for compression. "Stiffness" can be adjusted through both, though.
