Balancer shaft issue please help!

Ok so I drove about 100 miles yesterday and parked the car. Noticed nothing abnormal. Go to start my car this morning and it makes the most horrible squealing noise Ive heard in my life.. After some investigation I find that the pulley on the front balancer shaft has vanished and the belt is just slapping around. I may be misinformed but does the balancer belt assembly drive the oil pump? Is this going to require an engine pull to fix? or can I somehow drop a mount to give me some space?

This is the one... Any info on what these even do will be appreciated!

?? Do I need further clarification that I am unaware of??
The pulley did come off and the plastic cap in the cover is gone as well. I found the cover resting on a belt and a bit chewed up obviously.

ok, so Ive been doing research and it appears that some run without the balancer belt at all.. Any confirmation on this? Any possibility of damage to the engine?

I'll comment. My balance belt has been off for about 3-4 years.

You need to leave them in. You would need eliminator kit like the one from Kaizenspeed.

The eliminator kit if for completely removing the shaft for "enhanced oiling".

Otherwise you can leave the belt off and everything is gravy. Just slightly better throttle response and a bit more vibration.

Cool.. I cut off the belt and have been running great for about a week. I cant really notice any additional vibration but I can definitely feel the throttle response. Thanks for the help all!
