On my way to Vegas, me and My cousin who has a CLK 320 decided to go ahead and drive 100+ the whole way. At one moment, I decided to turn it up a notch and accelerate my engine further. I hit 153mph and when we had made a pit stop I turned off my car and turned it back on and the air/fuel ratio was on lean instead of rich. I also noticed that my clutch had a lot of wear because it didn't feel like it was griping, anyways, my question is, driving at constant speed of 100+ for 2 hours, does that do any type of damage to your vehicle?
I was driving my car, the Benzo speed gov. is at 133. But I think I could of gone further, but I was at redline, so I decided to stop. But I only went up to 153 twice, once on the way to vegas, and once on the way back home. Man you should check out the a/f band. It gets pretty Krazy!
a/f stands for air/fuel. I know there isn't anything wrong with my engine but I wanted to know if there is any serious damage by going that fast for about 2 hours!
yea i don't like that 75 85 mph is so goddamn high in the rpms, its like 4500, i love that nice whiny noise On highways i usually cruise and go up to 100 occasionally, i don't get too good gas mileage, and since i use synthetic its not that bad on oil consumption... u should be aight, maybe just get an oil change if your worried

well myu opinion is that its really bad .... to drive that fast for that long having the revs up that high is bad.... my friend had a integra and drove from reno to vegas 140 all the way when he came back his engine was leaking hella oil the engine got way too hot and blew out he gaskets ........... its a 4 cylinder ment to get to a certain speed fast like drag race car ... on the other hand V6s V8s can handle going that fast cuz their rpms are usually low at those speeds .....
The A/F gauge band has a large reading from stoich to Rich, that's about 8 bars at 153!
I did not make it all the way with a full tank, I only got 260 miles till I filled up. I usually do about 330!
Please do not think that your O2 sensor means anything, it's designed for one thing: to indicicate rich or lean. 1 or 0. It doesn't have the resolution to do anything else, regardless of the voltage reading you get from it or what your guage says. The F-body and Corvette guys are all over in-car wideband o2 sensors for getting a better picture of what's going on. I wish the people who sell these guages would make this point more clear (and I'm sure most of you know this).
