I picked up a black 1999 base 5spd this weekend. It needs a lot of work as it has been sitting for 2.5 years, but I'm excited about fixing it up and restoring it to it's former glory. As soon as I get a chance to take a look at the car, I'll start ordering up some parts from Honda. I sold my 98 DWP base back in 2002, so it's been a while.
What happened to all the OG owners? I stopped browsing the site when Malken turned it into a subscription site. Anyone still left in NJ/NYC area?

Hahaha, wow, man you're like a time capsule. You should post some pictures of it! What made you decide to get another one? Supra?
The Prelude world has changed A LOT since you left, there are a lot of parts not available anymore, and yet there are many more parts that are around that weren't.
Malken? Oh boy... There's a story there, hahaha. He apparently sold the site to "autoforums" back right before I got here in early '07, it apparently split the site's OG population, many left, some stayed....moderation team dissipated, supposedly an entire forum was created for those people against the now "ruined" PO.
90% of the OG's that you may know hang out in Off topic, go there if you have access and you'll see some familiar faces, I think there are a few NYC OG's left but I don't think any or only a couple still actually own their Preludes.
I must admit this site isn't how it was back in '07, and that was still considered the downward spiral to the older members, so things have changed a lot. When owners sell forums to corporations, "that's bad, mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmkay?"
pIERCE, thanks for the background. I was wondering why the boards seemed so inactive. I'm surprised Malken sold the site - it seemed like he had a loyal subscriber base. I don't have access to the Off-topic section, but since I stopped posting sometime in 2002/2003, I'm sure I wouldn't remember too many people.
The Prelude was owned by a friend of mine, but he moved away and left the car sitting at his parents place for about 2.5 years. His parents wanted it gone, so he called me and I picked it up.
I don't know if I was here from the beginning or close to it, but it's hard to believe I signed up almost 10 years ago. So who owns PreludeOnline.com now?
It was the Honda Prelude Owners Association. It was started around early 03 and I joined it back around 03/04. The web archive has a page for it until August 31st, 2005, everything after that is just a domain for sale page. I'm not sure what happened.

Malken had a very loyal fan-base, the problem was he probably didn't want a lot to do with this anymore, from what I can tell Malken sold his Prelude in '01-'02, which means he had gone 5-6 years owning and keeping up with this site--the prelude world--while living his own life. He probably though that this couldn't last forever, and made out while the getting was good. He sold to autoforums.com or something.
I beg to differ on your second point, I bet you'd recognize some of them. The few OG's here are very excited to see the old members come back and hang out with them, so I bet they'd be excited to see you lurking around. Just ask one of the admins.
This site was merged from Honda-Acura.net and Prelude online after H-A died. From what I can tell, PO started off as the 5th gen section of H-A, then split, then when H-A was failing, they re-merged with PO's name, something like that. PO came about in mid '99 and got a good member base by '00. Most of this was told to me by previous admin/members.

oh hai pIERCE
Is this another member with another alias I don't recognize? And yes...........I have some rather strong feelings about Malken selling this site and especially Dave selling PP.com(even though I wasn't around at the time of PO's sale).
Dan--Most of this was personal talk between other members and I on slow days, not really a log-book for any of this stuff.
