Auto to Manual Gauge Conversion

I'm switching to a manual gauge setup. Will I have any issues with the swap like lights on the cluster lit up?

It will look kinda goofy if you don't have the transmission to match.

Its an easy swap to replace the cluster, plug and play really.Although you may want to learn how to remove it all before you try as that is the hardest part of it.

Im familiar with removing the cluster from painting the gauge rings and installing blue led's. Just didnt want some random lights lit up. Goofy? Not so much lol

^ i hate to say it but i agree, it will look goofy, and in all honesty im not sure it will work perfectly as the manual tach wont be able to read the electronic gear position signal that is beign sent into it still.

Buddy switch to a manual cluster from an Auto one in an Accord with no issues even though his Accord is still an auto.

the manual cluster wont have any problems. the back of both clusters have a plug for the "gears" for the automatic. the manual cluster's plug is closed off. the gear changing signal wont be sent to it unless you open it and plug it in.

That's what I though PuYang thanks! I saw the green plug which sits RIGHT behind the automatic gear light's on the cluster. Just don't plug that in and I should be good.

It will only look goofy to people who know I switched it. You think some chick in my passenger seat is going to point out how goofy my gauges look? lmao

Only problem is if your trans has a fixable problem you wont have a light to throw the code until it's too late.

If you wanna impress chicks drive a real manual.

I'm doing the manual swap in spring. Good information about the tranny though mini thank you!

I'm not looking to impress anyone. Just saying...only people who would give a **** about how goofy it looks are prelude fanatics I'm sure. And being in Upstate Ny, those people are rare.

For my swap I pulled the tach out of the manual cluster and swapped it into my original cluster so the mileage shows correct. Worked fine, no issues.

Pull just the manual tach out of the manual cluster. Then remove the tach from your current cluster assembly. Put the manual tach in your cluster. Done deal is what I think dblair was saying to you.

there's nothing special. Just ask Mike mentioned, it's just simplly swapping the RPM section with each other. There's only 7 phillips head screws on the back you've gotta take out.

it won't matter, it's still the same thing...I've had a JDM cluster and now a Canadian cluster in my car, and they work perfectly fine.

That's right. The temp guage actually comes along with the tach but it's really an easy swap (compared with the transmission!).

I got my donor cluster from Prelude 1897. Worked like a charm. Thanks Brian.
