Hey. I was driving around yesterday and when i entered a my friend's drive-way, my ATTS light came on. I parked, turned off my car, and turned it on again. The indicator turned on as usual when starting the car, but it turned off right away as normal too.
Then today, I was driving, and out of no-where i hear a really loud thump. I thought something hit my car, but I stepped out and checked and everything looked fine appearance wise. I'm 100% positive that I did not run over anything to hit some kind of bump. When I turned onto my street to go home, the ATTS light came on, and stayed on until i turned off the car. Same issue also when i turned the car off and on, the indicator reset. So i have a feeling it's turning on after driving for a bit, and not immediately. Any ideas as to why it's turning on...and maybe related to that thump?
you need to get the code, and you'll find out why its coming on.
it sometimes thumps when it malfunctions, sometimes it doesn't. i've had mine do it, and had to have the code reset with a obd thingy when it thumps. when it shuts off without a thump, it'll usually turn off when the car is shut down

When you heard the sound was there a loss of power for like a split second? If so, mine did that and it was because of a bad VSS sensor.
Do you have the obd II work around? It sounds like you do and you have it turned on. Seems like the ECU is resetting when you start your car, erasing the codes. Turn off the workaround to keep the codes and pull the code also.

well, i drove for like 30 minutes straight just now and everything was fine. Mind you it only happened twice....I don't have an obd II work around either. I'm jus trying to figure out what caused that loud sound, cuz im very sure there was nothing on the road.
it was the atts failing that caused it.... not sure what in it, but mines done that whens its failed before..... keep the car on, and get the code out of it if you wanna see the exact reason...

Recently I had my ATTS light come on as I accelerated out of my apartment complex. I did not insanely drop the clutch or do anything stupid. I just revved, engaged the clutch and took off. There was a funny noise, the light came on and the ATTS unit went into off-mode. I pulled the battery cable to reset the ECU and two weeks later have not had the problem again during normal or aggressive driving at speed.
i dunno why, but for some reason the sound felt like it was coming from the back of the car..and no there was nobody behind me haha. I guess if it comes on again i'll take it to my mechanic
Guess what guys... it sounds like you need to get it repaired or get the whole unit. The previous owner the guy I bought the car from, told me the ATTS failed on him. So he took to honda and they replaced it with a new unit. This is when the car was under the warranty. Do you here funny noises coming from the ATTS? If so.. it might gone bad.
randomly mine will shut off. it works the rest of the time. its happened twice since i owned the car. the 1st time it made the clunk when it shut off, and the code was for faliuer of the main atts unit. i reset it and it worked fine. next code was over a year later, and it just came on while driving. shut the car off, back on, it was gone. didn't bother to check it. sometimes atts just freaks out. his seemed to happen close together, so he might need a new atts unit. i'd say drive it till it breaks. its not going to affect driving the car

I wonder if perhaps, it's just because the ATTS fluid [which is just Honda automatic transmission fluid] needs to be changed and has degraded to the point that it's not doing anything? Probably I'm wrong, just throwing it out there...
Mine has done this twice....once at Rotor Toaster, but I drove the **** outta the ATTS Unit and again when I was heading southbound on I-95 back to norfolk....Mine didnt go away with the turn of the ignition, it wasnt till about 100 miles later when I was in I-64 when the ATTS light just went out.....dunno, freak occurance though, never happened since

I wouldnt jump the gun. Ive heard a lot of people have similar problems, but then they never come back.
Honestly, the dealer might have just replaced because it was easier than trying figure out what was wrong with it.
Also, there was a known problem in some of the early years that required replacing the control unit.
I would leave it alone, if it happens again, get the code pulled, then go from there.

If my ATTS ever went on me I think I'd rather swap in a Base transmission with an LSD but I'll bet the overall costs will be the same when you tally receipts.
That's what I did when my motor started going south, I replaced it with a JDM H22 and OEM LSD trans, I'm MUCH happier.
BTW my ATTS unit used to "shudder" before it would throw the code, mine worked fine but for some reason it seemed to happen randomly when I was using the AC.
Last night I was making a left turn at around ~40Km and accelerating when I felt a sudden loss of power and a stiffening of the steering wheel. The ATTS light came on right away and stays on as long as the car is running. When I start the car again, the ATTS light is on and stays on.
I know I need to pull the codes, but I have no idea how. I don't have any special device to do it for me. Is there a way to reset the system so the ATTS re-activates? And if the ATTS unit is kaput, can I just drive the car safely without it, or do I need to have ot fixed. I have no real love affair with ATTS, so I could live without it, but that yellow warning light on the dash would drive me nuts over time. Any thoughts?

EDIT: I should also mention that I had the ATTS fluid changed a few weeks ago at the dealership and the wheels aligned. Lately I did notice that my steering was a little stiffer then I remember it (I was away on vacation for over a week and the car was just sitting there). Could that have something to do with it? Perhaps my power steering fluid needs changing?
I'm not sure how to pull the ATTS codes, but if you want to rest everything, just pull your negative battery terminal off for a few minutes, then reconnect.
Should eliminate any codes stored in the system.

Okay, but without resetting the ECU, will anything bad happen if I drive around with the ATTS indicator lit up? I'm guessing not, but just want to be sure.
