I paid 1g for trans and all hardware necessary to install also a new ECU.500 for clutch and flywheel combo. And i think another 400 on new parts, slave cylinder, master cylinder.I just did that cause i didnt wanna take a chance with the other parts. Trans had 17k on it.I cant post what i paid to have it done, but it was tad under 3g's with parts.ONly reason alot of others went there and i know they paid more than what we paid..I was the second of many 5 speed swaps done by a local shop in Maryland.
NORICE4U was the first,or a least he went before me..

It seems hight, there's alot of labor involved. It all also depends how much you spend on parts.Obviously the cheaper the parts it will help the cost, but labor is still gonna get u every time

if your friend doesn't have a lot of mods on his SS then tell him to sell it and get a 5spd (or another car lol)

this is def. the easiest way.

why drop another 3 g's into a car that you cant get back out, when you can just sell your and for the same money get what you want already done to it........

If I ever do the swap, I am going to keep auto tranny and related parts and swap them back in if I decide to sell the car.

I sold my SS trans with 1200 miles for $2500.. No point to keep it around for a few years and swap it back in when i am done. You have a way better chance of selling a 5 speed than an auto...

o yea, one way to cut cost is to get accord trannies. They are lot cheaper, but the gear ratios will suck

I would be more concerned about trying to sell a car that didn't originally come with a manual. This swap lowers the value of the car.

When you do the swap though and you dont have a red key and you swap in the manual ecu...will the car read the key when you start it?

You can convert the auto ECU to a manual ECU by moving one jumper on the motherboard.

That manual ECU will not work with your immobilizer.

As far as i know,if u have ur Red key and go to Honda they can redo ur immobilizer and using ur keys they can program it.Even if u dont have the red key Honda can still do it,they will cut what is called a T5 key(the red key) and they will do the immobilzer. It;s a plus to get the keys from the donor car but if u cant i believe they can still make it work. Ask Gerhard,he has done tons of research and should be able to get ur answers from one of his many post on this subject..
